This is one of those builds that is just beyond the normal scope of building. The incredible shaping would be amazingly impressive even without the fabulous interior! Stupendous work!

ChromeBricks.com review.

I recently made an order on Bricklink.com from a store called ChromeBricks. They sell custom painted chrome helmets weapons and armor all the way from Germany! I originally heard about ChromeBricks by reading an article on TBB by Nannan Z. I wanted to see what they were like for myself but didn't have an excuse for an expensive overseas order. ;)

Then when my brother's birthday rolled around I figured I'd get him some awesome Chrome stuff!

We were not disappointed!
I put together a couple minifigs to try them out!

The two color chromed sword matches perfectly with the super shiny gold helmet. (It's so shiny you can see me in the reflection!)
This helm looks amazing in silver!

The silver hoplite helmet is ideal for even the most glorious of heroes!
And he found the Holy Grail!
Pros-
  1. Each item is perfectly painted for a pristine shine!
  2. They are quite durable, which is good for people who still like to play with their 'figs and make changes and customize.
  3. Great selection of items, and I'm told if you contact them they can chrome any particular piece you want! (with added cost, I'd imagine.)

Cons-
  1. The Price is the biggest factor that would discourage a future order, most of the helmets are more then a couple dollars a piece. For example, the two colored swords were 11 bucks a piece!
  2. Shipping all the way from Germany isn't an easy matter for us in the US. It's expensive and you'll probably want insurance as well.

All in all, definitely worth the money, and it will really make you 'figs look incredible. But It's not something I would spend a load of cash on every month. ;)

So Be sure to check out the ChromeBricks site and get some fantastic chrome items for your collection! :)

War Elephant tutorial.

This post will show you how to make a fierce armored war elephant

First, we need an elephant. I use a standard LEGO elephant. (Although, eventually I want to try my hand at a brick-built one.)

Next, I'll add two brackets, and one 2x2 plate to the back of the elephant.

This will provide a good attachment point for the side armor pieces.

I was scrolling through The Lego Sci-Fi Group on Flickr, when I came across this bad boy! Not only is this vehicle's design just plain great, but I think the paint job is what really brings this thing to life. Not to mention some very nice editing. Check it out on Raoul Baldwin's photo stream :)

Deer, Elk, Pronghorn and Goat instructions

Recently, a friend of mine posted a link of my Musk Ox instructions on a Flickr group. He also posted a picture of my Elk, and said... "I hope you can figure out how it's made from the picture."
This quickly inspired me to write a good tutorial for one of favorite animals. :)

First I'd like to start with the Billy-goat.
This animal is pretty simple.

first you'll need a 1x1 brick with studs on all sides, and one normal 1x1 brick placed on one side.

Next add three 1x2 grill plates as shown.

Next add a 1x1 round plate to the end.

then attach a pair of binoculars on the 1x1 round plate.

Then add a nice set of horns to the "head" I used Brickwarriors crescent horns , but LEGO ones work fine too. :)

And that's it for the goats!

Next i'll show you how to make the deer or I personally call them "Doose"
(Half deer, half moose)

First you'll need two 1x1 bricks with studs on all sides and one 1x1 Technic brick.

Then you put them together as shown.

Next add a 1x3 plate on the side.

Then add another 1x3 tile to the other side and a 1x1 slope (cheese slope) on the front.

Next I'll add a 1x4 plate to the top.

Don't forget to add a 1x1 clamp on the back. (so you can attach the tail later)

Then add a cheese slope where shown.

Next add a 1x1 plate and a 1x1 round plate top, on the front, as shown.

Then we'll build the legs

Each pair has a jumper plate followed by a pair of 1x1 rounds, a pair of 1x1 cones, and another pair of 1x1 round plates on the end.

Then attach them as shown.

Next the tail, I used a Brickwarriors spike, but again, a LEGO claw would work fine. ;)

Finally the head! I've always used a Brickwarriors Minotaur head and a set of Brickwarriors antlers.

I've found these much more effective then brick-built heads at this scale.

This same format can be used to create the Elk and the Pronghorn as well, with a few minor color and piece changes. :)

Hope this is useful, thank you for viewing!
